ABOUT

“Photography, for me, is a healing meditation,” she said. “It’s unspoken emotion. The greatest compliment to me is when someone tells me one of my photographs moved them.”
Professional photographer Beth Buglione first picked up a camera at age 10 and instantly fell in love with the medium. She graduated from the University of Oregon school of Journalism and worked for a variety of photojournalism jobs, learning and appreciating the camera’s power to tell the stories of humanity.
“Photography, for me, is a healing meditation,” she said. “It’s unspoken emotion. The greatest compliment to me is when someone tells me one of my photographs moved them.”
She recently spent a week photographing the resilient members of the Asian Pacific Environmental Network (APEN) in Oakland, Calif. Documenting how this diverse community is constantly pushing back against environmental polluters, loss of affordable housing and other vital resources was a moving experience. She felt privileged to witness their struggles, triumphs and beautiful cultural practices.
Buglione has worked with APEN, Forest Ethics, Hells Canyon Preservation Council, the Georgia Strait Alliance in Canada, and the California Environmental Justice Alliance. She also has an extensive collection of nature and fine art photography displayed on her personal website.
